DIY synth repair - fixing a series of dead keys

roamingroyalty.com This video shows you something to check if you have a series of dead keys on a synth. This video shows a Yamaha synth but many synths work in a similar way. Usually if there is a single dead key there is a problem with that particular key making contact with the single point on the circuit board that sends that signal to the synth engine. If there is a series of dead keys, in this case 4 of the 5 F#'s and G's were dead, then the problem likely lies with the ribbon cable that connects the keyboard assembly to the circuit board that runs the synth engine. Luckily that turned out to be the problem and the synth was repaired.
